Luigi Bosca Gala 1 Malbec – Petit Verdot – Tannat
Malbec, Petit Verdot, TannatMalbec, Petit Verdot, Tannat
Luigi Bosca Gala 1 is a deep intense red, but with the brightness of young wines. The nicely elegant nose has hints of black olives, licorice and tobacco. Compact on the palate, strong but without edges. An intense, modern red with ripe tannins, full-bodied and persistent. Ends with a subtle vanilla note, delivered by its aging in oak barrels, coming together harmoniously in a long, complex finish.

Soil and vine
This red wine is a blend of batches selected from three vineyards located in Luján de Cuyo, with outstanding health and phytosanitary cleanness. The soils are sandy-loam, with stones from different sizes, short organic matter and very good drainage.
Yield per hectare
6,000 kg/ha, 42 hl/ha.
The three varieties are vinified separately in exactly the same way. The grapes are hand-picked in boxes from 18 to 20 kilograms, clusters are selected, then they are destemmed and after that the best grains are chosen. The must is macerated in cold for 5 to 7 days at a temperature from 10°C to 15°C. Then it is fermented with selected yeast in stainless steel tanks with a capacity of 15,000 liters, with extraction works such as delestage and pressings. Once fermentation is finished, only the Malbec is aged in oak barrels where their malolactic fermentation occurs and it is matured for 14 months. Once the ageing is finished, the final blend is done, after that they are stabilized, filtered and bottled. It is stored in the winery for at least a year before putting them in the market.
Ageing in barrels
Only the Malbec is aged in oak barrels for 14 months.
Comments by the winemaker
This wine was the first blend of the winery made based on the flagship Argentinean strain trying to show the potential of the variety. The 2014 harvest was very stable as regards the climate, and produced grapes of excellent quality and great character.
