Luigi Bosca Gala 1 · Malbec · Petit Verdot · Tannat
Malbec, Petit Verdot, Tannat
As it is a young wine, Luigi Bosca Gala 1 is an intense dark and bright red. In the nose we can perceive extremely attractive and elegant black olives, licorice and tobacco notes. It is compact and strong in the palate, without edges. It is a concentrated, modern, full-bodied and highly persistent wine with ripe tannins, showing notes of toffee and toasted coffee beans as a result of its ageing in oak. Harmonious and complex wine with a long finish.

Continental climate, with a wide range of temperature between day and night, and well-defined seasons which contribute to a good growth of the vines. The altitude and its microclimate are ideal for the grapes since they provide a unique character. Many hours of good sunlight.
Soil and vine
This red wine is a blend from three vineyards located in Luján de Cuyo, with outstanding health and phytosanitary conditions. The soils are sandy-loam, with stones from varying size, poor organic matter and very good drainage.
The three varieties are vinified separately exactly the same way. The grapes are hand-picked in boxes from 18 to 20 kilograms, clusters are then sorted and destemmed for further grain selection. The must is macerated in cold for 5 to 7 days at a temperature from 10°C to 15°C. Then the must is fermented with selected yeast in stainless steel tanks of 15,000 liters capacity, with delestages and pressings. Once fermentation is finished, only the Malbec is aged in oak barrels where malolactic fermentation occurs and is then matured for 14 months. Once the ageing is finished and the final blend is done the wine is stabilized, filtered and bottled. It is stored at the winery for at least a year before market release.
Ageing in barrels
Only the Malbec is aged in oak barrels for 14 months.
Comments by the winemaker
This wine was the first blend of the winery based on the flagship Argentinean variety, trying to show the potential of Malbec. The 2015 harvest brought various climatic challenges. The final results showed high quality, well-concentrated wines, of great ripeness.
